Considering how feature rich it is, no, I don't think so. It starts at $100 USD more than the 14 Pro Max and for that you get 256 GB base storage, a stylus, more capable cameras, a SIM slot if you need one, and a far superior USB-C port.
The iphone 8 plus still good in 2023 ? What's the context of this question? Is this a free phone from a friend/family member? It'll be competent and do the main functions of iMessage, FaceTime, picture-taking, web browsing, etc. just fine. Not sure about modern games.
If it's 8 Plus, you may keep it as long as you can if you need its features that newer phones don't: touch ID, home button, and big LCD display. For iPhone 8, I'd say get SE 2022 or SE 2020. They are very affordable esp SE 2020 and straight up massive upgrade over iPhone 8 with the identical frame. 1.
