I'm fully aware of the security risks. Thing is, no one's gonna go for my car. There's not really a way externally to tell if the immo is active or not, so it makes zero sense for someone to try to steal my car on the very slight chance that the immobilizer isn't working as it should. Immobilizer Problems, Causes #7: Faulty Immobilizer Module. The immobilizer module is the brain behind the anti-theft system. However, like any electronic component, it can fail. Factors like moisture, heat, and age can affect its functionality. If your immobilizer module is malfunctioning, your car might struggle to recognize the key.
To do this, turn on the ignition, use your centralized button to enter the digits, several quick presses (example: 2 for digit 2) then a stop of one and a half seconds to confirm the digit and resume, replicate the operation until you have entered the full code. This should allow your Mazda 2 to start without having to remove the immobiliser.
Step 6: Reconnect the Battery and Test. After disconnecting the immobilizer wires, it’s time to reconnect the battery and test whether the immobilizer has been successfully disabled. Reattach the negative terminal to the battery and start the engine. If the immobilizer has been disabled correctly, the engine should start without any issues.
I went to Mercedes and asked how much for a backup key and fob - central locking, immobiliser but no transponder or alarm (as far as I know). I was fairly stunned when I learned it would cost £120. I have since learned that, apparently, the AA and RAC can bypass these immobilisers and £16 will buy a new blade which works all locks.
Disable the immobilizer in the ECM, that proves the ECM is active. Re-enable the immobilizer in the ECM and retest the PIN in both the ECM and cluster. Adapt all keys and passed. Still a no start but with key failure faults. This is where the process of elimination takes effect.
there should be 5 leads trailing from the cap - the lead in the centre leads to the "coil", the other 4 leads go to the spark plugs. There should only be 4 as the Mk1 was only made as a 4 cylinder engine. Pull off the leads (though not whilst the engine is running as you'll electrocute yourself) and the spark plugs will be revealed. Posted on
